Judith - it’s so lovely to read your latest newsletter again, and just made me so excited for Christmas. I love your intriguing photo of your Christmas books - some I have such as Nigella’s, Nigel’s, Delia’s and Jeanette Winterton’s - which is a glorious mix of stories and recipes. I met her at a book festival last Spring - she’s a wonderful person to hear speak. I look forward to reading some of the Christmas books in your photo that I haven’t read yet.
Hoping your adorable grey muzzled greyhound is able to have a calm few days around Guy Fawkes celebrations - is the prescribed medication gabapentin? it does wonders for anxious dogs and cats.
They’re all such great books. I heard Jeanette Winterton talking about her book on Woman’s hour,it was fascinating to hear. (Friday 6th Dec 2016 I can’t work out how to add a link to the specific programme!) I have a few more books lurking and will share them all in a few days.
Lara had a relatively peaceful night last night, we’re expecting far more fireworks tonight and tomorrow. I think we may go to Brittany for Diwali/Guy Fawkes next year. Thank you for asking, that’s very kind. xx
I really struggled to put hyperlinks into my text on Substack for the first 2 months at least. I tried using the hyperlink at the top when writing, but couldn’t get it to work.
The only way I’ve been able to place links is by copying the link on a website, then going back into writer dashboard to the article you’re writing on Substack; clicking button in the the menu at the top, then click custom and then create button. Type your own title for the link on first line eg Jeanette Winterton and then paste the copied link for the url and press OK.
But if the programme or film you want is on YouTube, you can copy that url straight into your text straight away.
I hope that makes sense - I bet there’s probably an easier way to do it!
Jude, I am so behind with reading Substacks but thank you so much for mentioning me. A lovely surprise. Looking forward to seeing what you make from the Get Ahead Cook
Jude — Thank you so much for mentioning Nettle and Quince in your November newsletter! It's very kind of you. I love reading your monthly updates, they are always inspiring reminders to savour the season, and I am quite envious of your collection of Christmas books!

I’m so looking forward to the 9th December. I have the family here the weekend before, so a little outing will be just what I need!

Thank you Valerie. I love your posts too. It is rather ridiculous to have so many books, but I do love them, so much inspiration.
Never too many books! ;)) x
So much to do, so little time! Your to do list is neverending!
