I remember Jerry's Home Store... there was one around Brompton Road I think? Close to Kelly Hoppen. I bought a Coca Cola wall mounted bottle opener in there which these days is mounted on my garden shed! I'd like to visit Nantucket if I went to the States, in the meantime I'll have to settle for L'Île-de-Ré !
Yes I think you’re right, we had one in the Bentalls Centre, Kingston, when it first opened. I loved it (it was a British version of William Sonoma, full of lovely cooking utensils and crockery you didn’t know you needed! ) I bought my first Kitchen Aid there, it’s still working, my son now has it, at least 30 years old! I think L’ile de Re is a great compromise.
I just love this time of year, even more so when my eldest son was born (nearly 38 years go) two weeks before Christmas and his younger brother two years later, five days after New Year’s. The books simply add to the magic.
There’s something comforting about old favourites at Christmas. I’ve read the picture books to well over 600 children and I can’t think of one child who did not enjoy them.
Jude, we almost have the same book collection! I love Christmas books and can never get enough.
I love re reading them every year, it really is my favourite time of year.

What a comprehensive collection Judith!

Christmas is truly wonderful, a gift - but to have given birth to your two children at this time is unique. How blessed, Judith.
Really love this Jude. So many of these books are my old friends too. I love getting them out next year to welcome in the Christmas season
