Bonne année to you too, Jude. I'm sorry to hear that you were unwell in December, hopefully the New Year starts on a new note and I'm sure Brittany in January will be bracing and beautiful. And what an impressive reading list, it sounds like a fascinating journey. x
I’m feeling far better now, thank you. And I’m really looking forward to walks on the beach next week in Brittany. I’ve enjoyed the three books for January and am now trying to think which three to read in February!
Happy New Year Jude. Hope you are recovering, so sorry to read you were struck down by flu twice! I love your list and may dip in and out of it myself as these are exactlythe kind of authors I love. I have read a few on your list, and the others are a mix of those I know of and those I don't. Really looking forward to hearing how you get on, as I ponder my reading for the coming year.
Happy New Year Angie, the worst of the flu has gone, I think a couple of weeks on the Breton Coast will really work its magic.
I like giving myself a little challenge, and now I have written the list, I’m looking forward to ticking the books off over the year. Let me know which ones you read! xx
Happy New Year Jude! Sorry to hear you've been ill in December but sounds like you're over the worst of it. I am impressed with your planned reading list, I used to work close to Lambs Conduit Street and pop into Persephone Books during my lunch breaks. I don't think the shop is there now. If you enjoy Rebecca West I can highly recommend "The Return of The Soldier", a novella about a WW1 veteran with shellshock/amnesia returning home, it's set around Bray on the Thames, well worth a read.
Thank you Sarah. Happy New Year. Persephone Books have moved… to Bath, so I tend to order them directly from them. I remember the shop in Lambs Conduit Street fondly. And thank you for the reminder of “The Return of the Soldier”, again it must be 40 years since I read it, I will definitely read it again. Have a wonderful January. xx
